Laser Hair Removal
What is Laser Hair Removal?
Laser hair removal is a cutting-edge solution for achieving long-lasting hair reduction. Our advanced technology targets hair follicles with precision, delivering effective results while maintaining the integrity of the surrounding skin. Concentrated light beams target and destroy hair follicles, leading to reduced hair growth. The laser emits a specific wavelength of light that is absorbed by the pigment in the hair, which then converts into heat and damages the follicle. This process inhibits future hair growth, making it a popular choice for hair elimination while improving the quality of the . The treatment is generally safe and effective for various areas of the body, though multiple sessions are usually required for optimal results.
Is Laser Hair Removal Safe?
Yes, laser hair removal is generally safe when performed by a trained professional using appropriate equipment. It’s a well-established procedure with a track record of effectiveness for long-term hair elimination. However, as with any medical or cosmetic treatment, there are potential risks and side effects, such as skin irritation, redness, or temporary changes in skin pigmentation. It's important to consult with a qualified practitioner who can assess your individual skin and hair type to ensure the treatment is suitable for you and to minimize any potential risks.
Is Laser Hair Removal Painful?
Many of our clients find laser hair removal to be as manageable as other hair removal methods. Unlike waxing, which can be more painful and may lead to bleeding, laser hair removal is typically spread over multiple sessions and is considered safer. While it's not entirely pain-free, therapists can employ various techniques to minimize discomfort, such as using a cool-air fan, applying specialized lotions, and adjusting the laser's setting.
What are the Side Effects?
Immediately after the treatment, the skin might show redness or a raised, goose-bump-like appearance, which typically fades within one to two hours. You may also experience some itchiness post-treatment.
How Many Sessions is Required?
The number of treatments required for long-term benefits depends on the area being treated, your hair density, and the hair’s growth cycle. There are three phases of hair growth — Anagen (active), Catagen (regression) and Telogen (resting). Laser technology is designed to treat hair in the Anagen phase of growth. Additional factors, including age, ethnicity, weight, hormones, diet, medication and metabolism, influence hair growth and play a role in the location, thickness, and resilience of your hair.
Although each client is unique, experience tells us that you can expect an average of 6-8 treatments spaced 4 to 8 weeks apart, depending on the body location of the unwanted hair.
Who Shouldn’t Do Laser Hair Removal?
Laser hair removal is not advised if you are taking specific medications, which your therapist will review with you, or if you are pregnant or breastfeeding due to potential hormonal changes affecting hair regrowth.
Additionally, the treatment should only be performed on natural skin tones without sunburn, deep tans, or fake tans. Increased melanin from tanning can make it difficult for the laser to differentiate between hair and skin, affecting the treatment’s effectiveness. This applies to all skin types, including Caucasian, Asian, and Black skin. It’s generally recommended to wait two to four weeks for any tan or sun damage to fade before undergoing laser treatment.
We also advise against scheduling laser hair removal right before significant sun exposure or if the treatment area is inflamed due to conditions like acne, rosacea, or dermatitis.
